My box is through Comcast, I have reset the resolution settings about 1000 time to native. Ever time I power down the TV and AVR the box reverts to 480i, there must have been some change in this firmware on the 616 that is causing this issue to happen because it was not present before the update. I am not sure what firmware I was using on the 616 before this version, I had only updated once since I bought it on 7/5/12.
I have tried a number of things to resolve it, none have worked:
Allow pass through of cable box to TV thinking maybe the handshake would happen quicker/without interfearance of AVR
5 second delay of turning on AVR-no dice their either
Different settings in the output resolution of AVR-Tried pass through, auto, 1080
I realize that the whole issue isnt with the receiver and this DVR is known to have this problem with just about anything in between the DVR and TV but it was working fine and no it does not. Comcast is not helpful with issues this technical and they don't make the DVR Motorola does and they also write their firmware, no chance of getting it fixed that direction so I hope Onkyo can step up and fix this.
